Meet Your Lawyers
Born and raised in Calgary Rabie Ahmed showed a passion for law from a young age. With a natural affinity for debate, it was always his dream to one day become a lawyer. His dream began to manifest when he was accepted into the University of Liverpool’s Bachelor of Law Program. Applying his relentless drive and his pursuit of excelling to his studies he graduated in August 2015 with honours. Upon returning to Alberta, Rabie had the pleasure of articling in Edmonton in the Areas of Family and Criminal Law. Shortly after being called to the Bar in June 2019, he returned to Calgary where he founded Esquire Law.
Rabie has successfully defended clients from a variety of criminal charges including driving offences, assault, sexual offences, and human trafficking. He understands that criminal charges are accusations and is willing to hold the Crown and police to account to ensure his clients are in the best position.
Rabie currently volunteers with Calgary Legal Guidance. Hoping to inspire the next generation of lawyers, Rabie hosts lectures at Mount Royal University and other institutions. When he isn’t winning in the court room and looking out for his client’s best interests at the office, Rabie enjoys spending time outdoors and working on advancing his martial arts training.
Tanya completed her articles with Deloitte Canada and has held various legal positions in a vast array of practice areas over the course of her legal career. Tanya possesses a BSc specializing in genetics and biological science from the University of Alberta, an LLB and an LLM in International and Human Rights Law from Tilburg University, an LLM in Canadian Common Law from Osgoode Hall Law School, as well as a certificate in minority rights in the extractive industry from Northwestern University.
Tanya prides herself on being pragmatic, practical and to the point – both as Counsel and in her day-to-day life. During her time as a student, she was actively involved with scientific and legal research, worked as a legal agent for several years, as well as worked for several agencies – pro bono and for profit in nature. Tanya is fluent in English, German, and Dutch.
Outside of work, Tanya enjoys travel, sports and fitness – soccer, basketball, biking, hiking and HIIT, as well as cooking.
